Villa Vescovi

Loc. Luvigliano - Torreglia

Villa Vescovi is one of the most significant elements of the historical-artistic heritage of Colli Euganei Regional Park.

The Villa is situated in the heart of Colli Euganei, in the province of Padua, and is the most important house of pre-Palladian Renaissance.

It was built between 1535 and 1542 for Francesco Pisani, bishop of Padua, and intended as a grand architectural work, inspired by classicism, to receive the artists and intellectuals belonging to the circle gathered around the bishop. Planning was entrusted to Veronese architect and painter Giovanni Maria Falconetto, whereas Venetian scholar Alvise Cornaro - then in charge of curial administration - was the works superintendent.

The interiors and loggias feature frescoes by Flemish painter Lambert Sustris, who was a great admirer of Raphael in Rome. The villa is extraordinarily well-preserved and still harmoniously embedded in the surrounding landscape. Its atmosphere conveys the true nature of this palace: a place to reflect, find yourself, enjoy the pure beauty of its spaces.
